An international festival of active and extreme sports tourism was held at the recreation center in the Oqbuyro neighborhood of Samarkand region. The event, organized in collaboration with the Tourism Development Department and the district government, featured exciting activities such as paragliding, hot air balloon flights, auto and motorcycle drift shows, traditional equestrian competitions, folklore performances, and a cultural program. Approximately 200 participants from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, South Korea, India, and local enthusiasts of extreme tourism showcased their talents. In addition, traditional folk games were also organized. It was highlighted that efforts to develop tourism in the region are expanding every year, with the aim of creating a favorable environment for both domestic and international travelers. The Oqbuyro – Okhalik – Mirankul Tourist-Recreational Zone, spanning over 4,656 hectares, was established in accordance with a Presidential Resolution on February 6, 2024. The project is managed by the Directorate of the Tourist and Recreational Zone, a state institution under the district administration. Various projects are currently underway in this area.
