According to the Ecological Police of Mongolia, a temporary ban on fishing will be put in place in all water bodies of the country from April 1 to June 15. This measure is being taken in order to protect fish during their peak reproductive period. The authorities have stated that catching fish during this time can greatly decrease their population and even put them at risk of extinction.

Individuals who violate the fishing ban will face a fine of 300,000 tugriks (equivalent to more than $88.8), while legal entities will be fined 3 million tugriks (equivalent to more than $888).
