On September 19, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol met during the United Nations General Assembly in New York City. The two leaders discussed how to further strengthen their strategic partnership and boost multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
The presidents expressed their pleasure in the growing relationship between Uzbekistan and South Korea, which is based on shared history, culture, values, and traditions.
President Mirziyoyev focused on the development of a new economic agenda for the strategic partnership between the two countries. Trade and investment have both increased significantly over the past few years, and there are now over a thousand joint ventures in Uzbekistan. South Korea has invested more than $7 billion in the country.
The two leaders identified priority areas for collaboration, such as advancing technological and investment partnerships with top South Korean companies, speeding up projects in education, healthcare, and green energy, and increasing digitalization, training, and other initiatives.
President Mirziyoyev also invited President Yoon Suk Yeol to pay a state visit to Uzbekistan.
