SEOUL, Aug. 2 (Yonhap) — Korea Zinc Inc reported on Wednesday that its second-quarter net profit had dropped to 124.2 billion won (US$95.7 million), a decrease of 61.6 percent from the same period a year ago.
The company stated in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the April-June period had declined by 59.2 percent year-on-year to 155.7 billion won, and its sales had dropped 13.4 percent to 2.46 trillion won.
The earnings were higher than what analysts had predicted. According to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency, the average forecast of net profit was 117.5 billion won.
