SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) — Kia Corp.’s EV6 GT was declared the winner of a yearly assessment of electric car models conducted by a major German automotive magazine, Auto Motor Und Sport, beating Ford Motor Co.’s Mustang Mach-E SUV, according to Hyundai Motor Group’s statement on Sunday.

The Genesis brand’s GV60 SUV came in second in the competitive EV evaluation, while the Ford Mustang Mach-E placed third, the group said.

Auto Motor Und Sport is one of the most prominent German auto magazines, along with Auto Bild and Auto Zeitung.

The EV6 GT earned higher scores for its handling, driving performance, rapid charging time, competitive prices and warranty programs, while the GV60 was recognized in the internal space and powertrain categories, the statement said.

The EV6 GT, Kia’s most powerful production car to date, can go from zero to 100 kph in 3.5 seconds, travel over 420 kilometers on one charge and recharge itself to 80 percent in 18 minutes.

The two models are built on Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated EV platform, E-GMP.
