The South Korean land ministry has stated that it will suggest a 10-month suspension of operations for GS Engineering & Construction Corp. in response to the April 29 collapse of a parking garage at an Incheon apartment complex.
An investigation revealed that the structure had not been built using a sufficient number of metal reinforcing rods and that the building process had been mismanaged.

The proposed suspension would include an eight-month ban from the land ministry and a two-month suspension from the Seoul city government for safety violations. Additionally, the ministry is pushing for police to investigate the case for possible legal infractions.
Inspections of 83 other GS construction sites around the country found no issues with the use of metal bars or the strength of the concrete.

The ministry has declared that it will take a strict stance against any illegal activity related to the accident. GS has promised to rebuild the 17 apartment buildings at the complex.
