The South Korean Land Ministry announced on Sunday that it will be taking action against GS Engineering & Construction Corp. for the collapse of a parking garage in Incheon earlier this year. The ministry will be pushing for a 10-month business suspension, with eight months being imposed by the land minister’s authority and two months being requested from the Seoul city government for negligent safety checks.

The accident happened on April 29th when the roof of an underground parking garage at an apartment complex collapsed while being built by GS. It was determined that the company had failed to use adequate metal reinforcing rods and had mismanaged the construction process. In response, GS stated that they would rebuild all 17 apartment buildings at the complex.
