SEOUL, Sept. 17 (Yonhap) — Hyundai Motor Co. announced on Sunday that the total sales of its Genesis models surpassed 1 million units as of August, reaching the milestone in around eight years since the brand’s launch.
Data from the carmaker showed that 690,177 Genesis models were sold in the domestic market, while 318,627 units were sold overseas. The luxury brand was introduced in November 2015, and its cumulative sales hit 500,000 units in May 2021.
In 2020, Genesis automobiles achieved a record-breaking annual sales of 132,450 units. The figure continued to increase, reaching 215,128 units in 2022. During the January-August period of 2023, Hyundai sold 154,035 Genesis models.
The most popular model so far has been the G80 sedan, which was released in 2016. It has accumulated 390,738 sales. Hyundai currently offers five sedans, two SUVs, and three electric vehicles under the Genesis brand.
