The delegation led by China’s Shaanxi Province Party Secretary Zhao Yide, who had come to Samarkand, convened a meeting with the area’s Hokim Erkinjon Turdimov. At the gathering, the two sides discussed the main aspects of deepening their bilateral cooperation. Erkinjon Turdimov remarked that the friendship and alliance between Samarkand and Shaanxi Province have a long history and the current visit will aid in further bolstering them. He also mentioned that the President of Uzbekistan had mentioned the need to strengthen these connections and take the socio-economic ties to a higher level during his talks with the President of the People’s Republic of China.
Zhao Yide expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and backed the initiatives proposed by Erkinjon Turdimov. He said that the initiatives of the leaders of both countries are aimed at reinforcing the age-old friendship between the two nations. He added that the opening of the consulate of Shaanxi Province in Samarkand will help to bring the bilateral relations to a new level.
The participants of the meeting deliberated the prospects for the socio-economic partnership between Samarkand and Shaanxi Province and identified the areas that should be given special attention in the future. Later, the two parties attended a business forum of entrepreneurs from Samarkand region and Shaanxi Province. Speakers at the opening ceremony of the forum mentioned that businessmen from both areas had already formed a partnership in the past. The participants of the forum actively took part in the discussion and noted the need to execute the agreements on the promising projects.
At the business forum, entrepreneurs from Samarkand region and Shaanxi Province made presentations and put forward their ideas. Several B2B projects were discussed. After the event, the sides signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The delegation also inspected the conditions in the Congress Center and the Eternal City Complex, visited the Institute of Archeology, the Registan Ensemble, and the Mirzo Ulugbek Observatory.
