On September 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the plans for the growth of e-government in Uzbekistan. The nation is taking steps to digitalize its economy and social services, as outlined in the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, which aims to reach the top 30 of the UN e-Government Development Index.
The Index measures the level of e-government development in countries around the world, encouraging the state and citizens to interact electronically, increasing the availability and usability of services, and strengthening the nation’s investment appeal. Uzbekistan has been steadily rising in the rankings, and last year was placed 69th.
A Project Office has been formed to implement the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, and a 53-event action plan has been developed with the help of foreign experts to break into the top 30. This plan includes the enhancement of 112 online services indicators, the integration of 700 digital services into the my.gov.uz portal by 2024, and the provision of high-speed Internet to settlements and highways.
President Mirziyoyev approved these proposals and ordered the Ministry of Digital Development to present the measures taken by Uzbekistan and the progress made at the UN DESA to improve the nation’s ranking. He also instructed to develop human capital in online services and high technologies.
