DUSHANBE, 28.09.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 27, Davlatali Said, Chairman of the Khatlon region, met with Zsuzsanna Hargitai, Managing Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Central Asia, in Bokhtar.
It was highlighted that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has been providing assistance to the Khatlon region in implementing social programs. Several joint projects are targeted at enhancing the quality of life of the region’s inhabitants.
It was also mentioned that the bank has invested in significant public sector initiatives, including a microcredit scheme, progress of the agricultural sector, small and medium-sized businesses, water supply, urban and rural infrastructure, women and youth.
“The EBRD’s contribution to the implementation of regional projects, such as the CASA-1000 project, is very significant for the nation. The “Strategy for cooperation between the bank and Tajikistan for 2020-2025” was approved in 2020. It is designed to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises and improve the business environment, promote regional integration, reforms in the energy sector and the development of infrastructure communications, support women and youth. As part of its projects, the EBRD is aiding the cities and districts of Bokhtar, Kulob, Norak and Yovon in improving the solid waste management system and providing the population with drinking water,” stated the head of the region.
