Dozens of Agreements Signed at Uzbekistan – American Business Forum

On September 17 this year, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev traveled to New York to attend the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. The day prior, Washington hosted the Uzbekistan – American Business Forum.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, Chairman of the Board of the American – Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm, President and Chairwoman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States Reta Jo Lewis and other officials spoke about the development of trade, economic, and investment relations between the two countries. The Uzbek side presented the progress made in its economy, trade, and industry, as well as the investment climate.

Participants of the forum discussed the potential of creating joint ventures and exporting products with high added value, as well as the importance of intensifying business contacts and providing government support for joint projects. Sessions were held on global competition, sustainability, business environment, innovation, strategic forecasting, privatization, and financial and technical interaction.

The event concluded with G2B and B2B meetings between the heads of ministries, agencies, industry associations, and leading companies of Uzbekistan and the United States. In total, twelve documents were signed in energy, mechanical engineering, ICT, agriculture, financial-technical and scientific-technical cooperation, and production of medical and pharmaceutical products.
