Construction of a Thermal Power Plant in Jizzakh Region Commenced

At an online event held with the presence of the President of Uzbekistan, the construction of a thermal power plant in Jizzakh region was initiated. Ergash Soliyev, the Hokim of Jizzakh region, Esat Caner Karabay, the Director General of Cenergo LLC, labor veterans, and builders attended the event.

In accordance with the resolution of the Head of state on the construction of a combined cycle thermal power plant with a capacity of 450 MW in Jizzakh region and to develop energy capacities by attracting foreign direct investment, sustainable and high-quality provision of economic sectors and the population with electricity in Sharaf Rashidov district, the commencement of the construction of a combined cycle thermal power plant was marked with the laying of the first stone.

The 450 MW thermal power plant project cost $340 million, but Turkish investors have offered to invest $500 million and build a 520 MW plant. During an online dialogue, First Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Azim Ahmadkhujayev gave information to the Head of state about the project and the prospects for a combined cycle thermal power plant.

The station will be constructed by the Turkish investor Cengiz Enerji San. ve Tic. A.Ş. and the design company LLC Cenergo. A space of 9.5 hectares has been designated for the station. It is projected to generate 4 billion 100 million kWh of electricity per year and will achieve savings of 700 million cubic meters of natural gas. Commissioning of the thermal power plant is planned for 2025.
