Businesspeople from Singapore explore Syrdarya region

The Hokim of Syrdarya region, senator Akmaljon Makhmudaliyev, welcomed a delegation led by the Chairman of Indorama Corporation, Sri Prakash Lohia.

Members of the delegation toured the cotton plantations of Syrdarya district, planted with Chinese technology, and familiarized themselves with the agrotechnical techniques used in the cultivation of the crop. The visitors also viewed the cotton and grain fields of Oqoltin district and got to know the operations of the cotton processing facility and the logistics center.

– Owing to the broad possibilities given by the President of Uzbekistan to investors like us, we executed the requisite agrotechnical measures on the unproductive areas of the region and harvested 35-40 quintals of cotton, – stated the Chairman of the company, Sri Prakash Lohia. – Our aim is to increase the yield to more than 60 centners next year.

Members of the delegation acquainted themselves with the activities of the modern cotton processing plant “Istiqlol” in Sardoba district. This plant was built with foreign direct investment by the company for 80 billion 640 million UZS. Currently, 200 locals are employed here. The company also implemented a logistics center project worth 31.6 billion UZS in Sardoba district, within which 370 new jobs were created.

In addition to investment projects, Indorama Agro LLC is actively engaged in sponsorship and charity activities. In particular, the company allocated more than 2 billion UZS to reconstruct and renovate two preschool education institutions in Oqoltin district. The guests also visited these preschool education institutions and presented gifts to the children.
