President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Dushanbe, declared that Turkmenistan will continue to be active during the upcoming 78th session of the UN General Assembly and will suggest a few ideas for the global community to consider, including those directly related to the development of Central Asia.
Specifically, according to the head of state, first, Turkmenistan will suggest the formation, with the support of the UN, of a Security and Cooperation Dialogue in Central Asia, with the aim of devising approaches and methods to bring together and synchronize the efforts of the Central Asian countries to ensure a sustainable, conflict-free progress of the region.
The leader of Turkmenistan particularly mentioned his willingness to host the first scheduled gathering of such a conference in 2024.
As per Serdar Berdimuhamedov, second, consultations with pertinent UN agencies will be proposed to decide the best format and structure of the UN Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin (UN SPAS).
“Third, is the setting up of a specialized body – the Regional Center for Technologies Related to Climate Change in Central Asia. We are ready to provide all the necessary infrastructure to locate this Center in Ashgabat”, -the President of Turkmenistan highlighted.
