The names of all chess players participating in the 1/64 finals of the FIDE World Chess Cup 2023 in Azerbaijan’s Baku have been revealed.
The tournament has a prize fund of $ 2.5 million.
Javokhir Sindorov and Nodirbek Yoqubboyev, who competed in the first round, qualified for the main game. Shamsiddin Vokhidov was defeated by Abdulla Gadimbayli from Azerbaijan, while Nilufar Yoqubboyeva lost to Eva Repková from Slovakia.
On July 1, the International Chess Federation announced the full list of chess players who will participate in the 1/64 finals of the World Championship. N.Abdusattorov will face Vahap Şanal from Türkiye, J. Sindorov will battle Markus Ragger from Austria, and N.Yoqubboyev – Benjamin Gledura from Hungary. The matches will be played in 2 rounds.
The World Cup will run until August 24. The first-place winner will be awarded $111 thousand, the second-place winner – $80 thousand, and the third-place winner – $50 thousand.
The chess players who take the top three spots will have the right to compete for the world chess crown in 2024.
