On August 25, 2023, a Protocol was put into effect that amended the Agreement on Border Crossing by Citizens, which was originally signed between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek city on January 27, 2023.

From 00:00 on September 1, 2023, it was established that citizens of both countries would be able to use ID cards to enter, exit, transit, move, and stay in the territories of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for up to 60 days.

In addition, citizens of Uzbekistan can use their biometric passports to travel to other countries when exiting or transiting through the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

Four customs posts have been set up to facilitate the passage of citizens of both countries across the border: “Uzbekistan” (Quvasay), “Fergana” (Fergana district), “Sokh”, and “Rishtan”.
