In the previous year, a grant agreement worth $6.2 million was signed between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and the Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco) to build a waste-processing facility in Sharof Rashidov district, Jizzakh region. Recently, K-eco representatives met with officials from the regional administration for ecology, environmental protection, and climate change, as well as representatives from the regional prosecutor’s office, tax service, and customs authorities to discuss matters related to importing and implementing specialized waste-disposal technologies. Upon completion of the project, the waste will be recycled, electricity will be generated using landfill gas, and the processed waste will serve as a new source of income. The project, located at the central landfill in Sharof Rashidov district of Jizzakh region, is expected to be finished by December 2026. The landfill occupies an area of 25 hectares and receives over 300 tons of solid household waste every day from the city of Jizzakh and Sharof Rashidov district. A. Qayumov, UzA.
