A grand procession in commemoration of Turkmenistan’s Independence Day began in Ashgabat

The people of Turkmenistan commemorated the 32nd anniversary of the country’s Independence with a grand procession in Ashgabat, held in front of the State Tribune complex.

Earlier in the day, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Monument of Independence of Turkmenistan, attended by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, leaders and representatives of the government, parliament, public organizations, political parties, elders, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Ashgabat, and foreign guests.

In the lead up to the holiday, various ceremonies were held in the Turkmen capital to honour the best workers of enterprises, organizations and institutions of Turkmenistan in recognition of the 32nd anniversary of the country’s independence. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov issued Decrees awarding a group of citizens of the country with orders, medals, and honourary titles for their special services to the state and society.

Residents of Turkmenistan can watch the festive parade in honour of the country’s Independence Day live on National Television.
