The OSCE/ODIHR is jointly holding the Human Dimension Conference in Warsaw. The conference is being attended by experts from international organizations, foreign Ombudsmen, representatives of national institutions and civil societies, as well as Feruza Eshmatova, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman). Discussions are centered around the implementation of OSCE commitments related to human security criteria. Ms. Eshmatova provided updates on human rights in Uzbekistan and emphasized the country’s stance against torture, which is enshrined in the Constitution. She also highlighted the importance of joint monitoring visits to penitentiary institutions with public groups. The conference will continue until October 11th. During her visit, Ms. Eshmatova also met with Uzbekistan citizens residing in Poland to discuss legal issues related to education, entrepreneurship, and opportunities for young people.
