At the Fifth Meeting of the Council in Tashkent, it was decided that Uzbekistan will take on the role of chairing the Interstate Council on Space of the CIS member states in 2024-2025. Mikhail Myskin, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee, proposed Shukhrat Kadirov as the Director of the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekspace), and this was unanimously supported by the meeting participants.
As per the established practice, each CIS country takes turns in alphabetical order to serve as the council’s chairman. Tajikistan held this role in 2023-2024.
Kadirov suggested elevating cooperation in space education and initiating joint projects to enhance the skills of young specialists. He also emphasized the council’s important tasks in advancing space activities, coordinating within the UN, and strengthening cooperation in space technologies. Aziza Alimova, UzA.
