The 11th Asia-Pacific Trade Facilitation Forum (APTFF) is currently being held in Samarkand. This forum, organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) since 2009, is the leading platform in the region for sharing best practices and knowledge on trade facilitation. Over 250 foreign guests from more than 30 countries, including representatives from over ten international organizations, are participating in the forum. Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khurram Teshabayev emphasized the widespread use of innovative technologies and digitalization, which have increased production and international trade. However, ensuring stable food and agricultural supplies in the region remains a relevant issue. In this regard, international cooperation in trade, transport, and logistics, as well as digitalization and simplification of trade procedures through electronic data exchange and the development of new business mechanisms, are of great importance. Some of the most effective measures highlighted include the creation of modern trade and logistics centers, simplified customs corridors, and special economic zones in border areas. The participants of the event also noted the importance of equal access to modern technologies for all countries, as well as the need for effective measures to simplify trade and transportation procedures and digitize processes regulating the movement of goods. Within the framework of the forum, several meetings were held to discuss the current state and plans for increasing cooperation between Uzbekistan and partner countries and international organizations. The program of the forum, which will continue until April 5, includes group discussions and sessions on trade facilitation and digitalization, including cross-border paperless trade, transport, and greening the trade process.
