Uzbekistan – Georgia: Cooperation in Agricultural Sector Discussed, New Opportunities Explored

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kakhramon Yuldashev met with Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Georgia in Uzbekistan, David Kotaria, and Senior Counsellor of the Georgian Embassy, Irakli Kandelaki to discuss further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the agricultural sector and explore potential joint projects.

It was suggested that a working group be established to focus on developing new grape varieties, cultivating and exporting table and technical grape varieties, advancing livestock farming, identifying domestic animals, and improving the qualifications of specialists in this sector.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of establishing exchanges between professors and students from universities and research institutes, as well as collaborating on sustainable agricultural systems, conservation of natural resources, reducing environmental impact, and adapting crops to climate change.

The parties also discussed the upcoming session of the intergovernmental commission, which will take place during the visit of the Georgian Prime Minister to Uzbekistan on February 20-22.
