Uzbekistan – France: Experts’ Perspectives on Cooperation in Various Fields

Tashkent recently hosted a roundtable discussion on strengthening the partnership between Uzbekistan and France, as well as promoting cultural connectivity between Asia and the European Union. The event was organized with the support of the Institute for Advanced International Studies (IAIS), the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), and the Embassy of France in Uzbekistan.

The discussion was attended by various experts, including the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan, Ms. Aurelia Bouchez, as well as representatives from research institutions such as the Center for European and Eurasian Studies, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies, and the International Institute for Central Asia. Professors, teachers, students, and doctoral students from UWED and other institutions were also present. The purpose of the event was to promote academic dialogue and international cooperation.

During the event, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and UWED Rector Sodiq Safoyev emphasized the growing strategic importance of the partnership between Uzbekistan and France, particularly in the context of developing relations between Central Asia and the European Union. It was noted that in today’s changing global landscape, ensuring inter-regional security, economic integration, and political dialogue are of mutual interest.

Expert reports were presented on various topics, including foreign policy, water diplomacy, regional security, and infrastructural connectivity. Mr. Safoyev also highlighted the significance of creating stable spaces for discussion and expressed gratitude to the Embassy of France for their ongoing cooperation with UWED.
