Uzbekistan – EU: Advancing Cooperation

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva held a meeting with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala.

The two parties discussed the progress of the growing relationship between Uzbekistan and the European Union, which has shown positive developments and is moving towards a higher level of collaboration in recent years.

They placed particular emphasis on inter-parliamentary cooperation, safeguarding human rights, ensuring security, protecting the environment, and promoting gender equality.

The parties also addressed the empowerment of women, including through the regional platform of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia. They recognized the significance of the Asian Women’s Forum as an international platform for exchanging ideas and promoting gender equality in the region.

The parties also discussed strengthening cooperation between the Central Asian nations and the European Union, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration for stability and sustainable development.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was made to continue active dialogue and jointly implement planned initiatives to deepen the partnership between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
