The UNESCO Headquarters in Paris was the setting for a meeting between Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, and Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO. During the meeting, they discussed the establishment of the UNESCO-Uzbekistan Beruniy Prize for Scientific Research on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and the first award ceremony to be held in Samarkand as part of the 43rd Session of the UNESCO General Conference. Other topics covered included enhancing cooperation in promoting women’s involvement and participation in culture, education, and social initiatives. Working meetings with Begoña Lasagabaster, Director of the Gender Equality Division in the Office of the Director-General of UNESCO, also addressed these issues. Initiatives under the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy for women’s roles in culture, art, and digital technologies were presented, including projects focused on developing women’s leadership in the creative and digital sectors and creating opportunities for their professional growth in the cultural field. The meeting also highlighted the UNESCO report on Uzbekistan’s preparedness for utilizing artificial intelligence technologies, participation in the UNESCO Youth Forum, and the proposal to organize the exhibition “Uzbekistan at the Crossroads of the Great Silk Road” at UNESCO Headquarters.
