The fifth round of political consultations between Uzbekistan and the UK took place in London. The Uzbekistan delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bobur Usmanov and the British side was represented by the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Leo Docherty. The two countries discussed the current state and potential for developing their bilateral cooperation and collaborating within international organizations. They also exchanged views on increasing the political dialogue and making the common agenda more practical. Additionally, the importance of elevating the political consultations to a strategic dialogue between foreign ministers was highlighted.
The parties also discussed the importance of developing their trade and economic ties, intensifying direct contact between their business circles, and creating joint investment projects. Furthermore, they confirmed their readiness to enhance their cultural and humanitarian collaboration, deepen their cooperation in the scientific field, and implement joint projects in preschool, school, higher, and vocational education. Additionally, they considered certain aspects of regional and international issues. The two countries agreed to hold the next round of political consultations in Tashkent in 2024.
