Uzbekistan and Germany to Collaborate on Sustainable Water Resource Management

The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers hosted an international event on March 22, World Water Day. Senior officials from the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, ministries, international organizations, experts, scientists, and students attended the event to discuss sustainable management of Uzbekistan’s water resources, adaptation to climate change, and innovative solutions in this area.

It was highlighted that the effective use of water resources is a pressing issue, and the event aimed to strengthen international cooperation in addressing issues such as water scarcity, climate change adaptation, and transboundary water concerns.

Furthermore, the event showcased the importance of implementing mechanisms for saving and recycling water resources through scientific research and innovative solutions, not only for economic development but also for environmental stability. This event also serves as a platform for applying international best practices in the rational use of water resources in Uzbekistan.

The event included presentations on innovative solutions to water scarcity, climate change, and water conservation. Discussions were held on water resource management in the Zarafshan River basin, measures to combat cross-border climate threats, and effective water resource management in the region.

The winners of competitions focusing on water conservation and climate issues were recognized, and a technology exhibition showcasing advancements in water management was also featured.
