The prestigious Kioi Hall in Tokyo was the venue for the “International Collaboration” concert, showcasing a talented ensemble from Uzbekistan led by Alisher Jamaldinov, Director of the Glière Republican Specialized Music Academic Lyceum. The program featured a fusion of Japanese, Uzbek, Korean, and Malaysian music, including renditions of traditional Uzbek tunes such as “Tanovar” and “Yol Bolsin”, as well as collaborative pieces like “Sharqona Fresco” and “Ningni” composed by Armugon Nizamedinkhodjayeva. A standout performance of the evening was the beautiful “Sakura Flower” piece.
In addition to the concert, a masterclass was held where attendees had the opportunity to learn about and play Uzbek national instruments like the “qanun”, “doira”, and “gijjak”. One audience member, Tanaka Hiroshi, shared his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “The concert left a lasting impression on me. I was particularly fascinated by the masterclass, where my daughter and I were able to try playing Uzbek instruments. The doira’s resonant sound amazed me. It may seem simple at first, but it requires incredible skill to play. I plan to visit Uzbekistan with my family to fully immerse ourselves in its national music.”
To promote Uzbekistan’s culture and tourism potential, a national crafts corner was set up at the entrance of the Kioi Hall, featuring informational brochures and giving visitors a glimpse into the country’s rich heritage.
