UzAW-2023 was held in Tashkent in cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent International Arbitration Centre (TIAC), and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This event provided a platform for the sharing of knowledge and expertise in the field of international commercial arbitration.
The meeting was attended by Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shukhrat Polvonov, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, David Hoffman, Director of the USAID Mission in Uzbekistan, Mike Freer, British Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice, and Diana Bayzakova, Director of the Tashkent International Arbitration Centre. All agreed that the gathering was a significant step towards protecting the rights of entrepreneurs and foreign investors, developing international arbitration, and boosting collaboration.
During the week-long event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the aim of raising awareness of foreign arbitral awards among the international community. In addition, symposia, working meetings, and roundtable discussions on various aspects of international arbitration were held.
