Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bobur Usmanov had a meeting in London with the UK Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Andrew McCoubrey. The discussion focused on the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan – British cooperation and regional security matters, including the development of the Afghanistan situation.
The British side held great admiration for Uzbekistan’s efforts to come up with positive solutions to tackle the Afghanistan issue and ensure the peaceful development of the country.
Uzbekistan’s commitment to increasing the amount of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and executing large infrastructure projects in Afghanistan were also praised.
The two sides also talked about their joint efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
Both sides expressed their mutual interest in continuing to interact actively in the Afghan direction, including by continuing consultations on the matter.
