The Central Election Commission has provided authorized representatives of political parties with signature sheet forms of a specified sample to gather signatures from voters who support a political party’s participation in the upcoming elections.
According to Article 38 of the Election Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the process of collecting signatures is outlined. For the elections of Legislative Chamber deputies, the Central Election Commission issues signature sheet forms of a predetermined format to political parties. Voters have the option to sign in support of one or more political parties, providing their personal information such as full name, date of birth, address, and identification details. The person collecting signatures may also record this information upon the voter’s request. This information is recorded manually.
In order for a political party to be eligible for the elections, they must gather at least 40,000 signatures from voters. Signature collection can take place at various locations such as workplaces, schools, residences, and election events, as long as it is not prohibited by law. Any form of coercion or bribery by the person collecting signatures is punishable by law.
Once the signature collection is complete, the authorized representative of the political party must submit the signed sheets, separated by region, to the Central Election Commission. The signature collection events began today and will continue nationwide until August 15.
