On July 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian had a phone call.
The Uzbekistani President sincerely congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in the presidential elections and wished him great success in his new role as the leader of the country.
The two leaders discussed ways to further develop the relationship between Uzbekistan and Iran and increase practical cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and transportation.
They were pleased to note the growth in trade turnover, cargo transportation, joint projects and enterprises, and flight frequency in recent years.
They also emphasized the importance of implementing previously agreed upon agreements at the highest level and promoting cooperation projects in various industries such as energy, chemicals, agriculture, and food.
Current regional matters were also addressed during the conversation.
