On November 6, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in the Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Bishkek.
The summit, led by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, was attended by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Hungary, and the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States.
The agenda included discussions on the current state and future prospects of cooperation within the Organization.
In his speech, the President of Uzbekistan highlighted the increasing complexity of global geopolitical processes and the rise of conflicts, wars, and threats. These challenges have hindered joint plans and projects in various areas such as trade, investment, transport, and energy.
The President emphasized the importance of continuing dialogues on political and security issues within the Organization, as well as promoting a unified stance on international matters based on common interests.
He also condemned the ongoing war in the Middle East and the double standards that have resulted in humanitarian tragedies. The President expressed hope for a resolution to the conflict at the upcoming Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh.
The situation in Afghanistan was also a topic of discussion, with the President emphasizing the need for regular dialogue and support for the country’s de-facto authorities.
The President of Uzbekistan noted the adoption of the Turkic World Charter as a sign of growing cooperation among member states.
He proposed several priorities for the Organization, including expanding its legal framework, creating new economic opportunities, and increasing investment and financial cooperation.
The President also suggested developing a Digital Turkic World concept to promote the use of innovative technologies and establish a Turkic Ecological Council to address environmental issues.
At the end of the summit, the Bishkek Declaration, the Turkic World Charter, and several agreements on cooperation were adopted. The President of Uzbekistan also congratulated the Prime Minister of Hungary on receiving a prestigious award and expressed his country’s readiness to become a full member of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
