Prospects for a significant expansion of mutual cooperation and the advancement of new areas of practical collaboration were extensively discussed during a meeting on December 4 between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi.

Uzbekistan has been a member of the IAEA since 1994 and has successfully completed over 40 joint projects with technical support from this reputable organization. Currently, there are 5 ongoing projects aimed at improving the legal framework and capabilities of national institutions, as well as promoting nuclear science, medicine, and other fields.

The President of Uzbekistan highly commends the productive outcomes of the IAEA delegation’s meetings and events held today with various ministries, agencies, and scientific institutions in Uzbekistan. The joint organization of the International Conference on the Use of Atomic Energy, to be held on December 5 in Samarkand with the participation of esteemed foreign experts in the field, was also acknowledged with satisfaction.

The key areas of cooperation include enhancing the capabilities and resources of national agencies, training highly skilled personnel, and implementing promising projects in nuclear energy, agriculture, water management, healthcare, and ecology under the IAEA’s programs.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish a joint roadmap for enhancing multifaceted cooperation in the peaceful development of nuclear energy.
