The President of Uzbekistan began his state visit to China by meeting with the Premier of the State Council

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, had a meeting with the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang, at the Great Hall of the People during his state visit to China.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to further enhance their multifaceted practical cooperation, with a focus on trade and economic relations.

The two leaders emphasized that the strong relationship between Uzbekistan and China has reached unprecedented levels in all areas, thanks to their joint efforts and political will.

Last year, the trade turnover between the two countries grew by 50 percent, reaching $14 billion. They also discussed the potential to increase this figure to $20 billion, including through mutual supply of high-quality agricultural and industrial goods. Chinese investments in the Uzbek economy have exceeded $14 billion.

The leaders also discussed plans for cooperation in infrastructure modernization, industrial cooperation, technology transfer in agriculture, and green energy development.

They also talked about the potential for cooperation with leading Chinese banking and financial institutions, as well as the participation of Chinese companies in the privatization processes in Uzbekistan.

The successful outcomes of the first Uzbekistan-China Forum of Regions and Industrial Exhibition, held on January 22 in Urumqi city, were also highlighted.

The two leaders also noted the success of the educational forum and Uzbek Culture Days currently being held in China. They expressed their support for expanding air traffic and promoting tourist exchanges between the two countries.

In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan invited the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China to visit Uzbekistan.
