In Uzbekistan, the second Sunday of November is marked as Medical Workers Day annually.
A ceremony was held in Tashkent to celebrate this holiday, attended by officials from the Presidential Administration, government members, representatives from the medical field, the general public, and the media.
The Presidential Press Secretary, Sherzod Asadov, read the President’s congratulatory message to healthcare workers, recognizing their valuable contribution to the progress of New Uzbekistan and the development of human capital.
The President’s message also highlighted the significant changes taking place in the healthcare system as a result of comprehensive reforms in recent years. These changes include increased budget allocations and the growth of the private sector, leading to improvements in the material and technical resources and human resources potential of the healthcare system, as well as the development of a healthy competitive environment and expansion of services with improved quality and efficiency.
The implementation of modern and advanced technologies in diagnostics and treatment has also been a focus. Efforts have also been made to ensure that every family has access to qualified treatment and prevention services, bringing social services closer to the population.
The achievements of the Uzbekistan healthcare system have received international recognition, with the National Children’s Medical Center receiving the JCI certification and other specialized medical centers receiving international accreditation. The Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Surgery has also implemented international quality standards for complex transplant operations.
In addition, Uzbekistan has been recognized by the WHO Regional Office for Europe for achieving regional targets in combating hepatitis B.
To honor the occasion of Medical Workers Day, a group of healthcare workers were awarded by the President’s decree. Acting Minister of Health Asilbek Khudayarov and Tashkent City Hokim Shavkat Umurzakov presented orders and medals to the recipients at the event.
Furthermore, 14 specialists were awarded the “Halq Salomatligi Posbony” (Public Health Guardian) badge, which recognizes their contributions to promoting a healthy lifestyle, raising the medical culture of the population, and setting a personal example in strengthening the health of the people.
The event concluded with a grand concert.
