On June 11, the wheat fields in the Dashoguz and Balkan regions of the country began to be harvested. This was prompted by the encouragement of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who addressed all grain growers of the country during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on May 29. Farmers are determined to quickly and efficiently collect a bountiful harvest, inspired by the President’s blessings.

The harvest in these regions was preceded by production seminars attended by representatives from the regional and district administrations, experienced agronomists, machine operators, and tenant farmers. The seminars focused on organizing the harvest and ensuring efficient and coordinated work throughout the harvesting process.

The participants of the seminars expressed their sincere gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his continuous support for rural workers, successful reforms aimed at modernizing the agricultural sector, and creating favorable conditions for farmers to live and work.

In 2025, the country’s grain growers are aiming to harvest 1.4 million tons of food wheat from 690 thousand hectares of land. The northern region has 145 thousand hectares of grain fields, with a target of 265 thousand tons of grain, while the western region has 50 thousand hectares of land with a target of 80 thousand tons of grain, according to the President’s decree.

As per the longstanding tradition, the elders offered a prayer for a successful harvest, followed by respected aksakals (elderly men) mowing the first ripe ears of wheat with the words “Harmanyňyza bereket, çäjiňize bereket!” (May your harvest be abundant!). They then handed over symbolic sheaves to the combine operators.

The farmers have put in a lot of effort to ensure a successful harvest, following all necessary measures for caring for the winter crops and using high-yielding varieties of wheat that are suitable for the region’s soil and climate.

The fields are now being harvested by powerful and highly productive grain harvesters. A network of repair and mechanical teams, equipped with spare parts, fuel, and lubricants, ensures the uninterrupted operation of these machines. Trucks will transport the wheat to receiving points, barns, and elevators. The laboratories of the Main State Service “Türkmenstandartlary” are also fully prepared to quickly determine the quality of the grain.

All workers involved in the harvesting process, including machine operators and drivers, have received mandatory safety and fire safety training. They also have comfortable working and resting conditions at the field camps, with cultural performances and mobile trading points organized for their benefit.

The start of the harvest in the northern and western regions was celebrated with exhibitions showcasing products from the country’s agricultural sector, demonstrations of modern agricultural machinery, and a concert by popular artists.
