On September 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with suggestions for improving preschool education and enhancing the system for nurturing talented youth. The early years of a child’s life are crucial for their development and the government places great emphasis on the preschool education system. Over the past seven years, the coverage has increased from 27% to 74.6% and the goal is to reach 80% in the next five years. Attention is also given to the quality and content of education, including providing teaching materials, enhancing the capabilities of educators, and implementing new approaches. The proposals for improving the quality and effectiveness of preschool education were reviewed at the presentation. To expand coverage, plans are in place to build kindergartens on unused land at schools through public-private partnerships. Additionally, all educational programs will be made available for free use on the Ministry of Preschool and School Education’s website. In line with international practices, the intellectual, cognitive, physical, mental, and social development of children will be continuously monitored and the educational process will be adjusted accordingly. To achieve this, the “Child Development Map” will be maintained in the Information System for Preschool Education Management. In order to improve the training and motivation of students, changes have been made in recent years. This has resulted in an increase in the number of medals won by Uzbek students in international subject Olympiads, from 45 in 2022 to 113 this year. To further support and prepare talented youth, the selection of participants for international subject Olympiads will now start from grades 5-8. The curriculum, literature, and teaching materials for each subject will be improved and made available to students and mentors. Foreign experts will also be involved in the national teams and joint training sessions with foreign teams will be organized. Currently, 22 international and regional subject Olympiad winners receive cash prizes, and this number will be increased to 28. Furthermore, students, teachers, and team leaders who win national and international Olympiads will be exempt from income tax on their cash rewards and gifts. President Mirziyoyev has instructed for the proposals to be thoroughly reviewed and finalized.
