A session was held by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Law “On the ratification of the Protocol on introducing amendments to the Agreement on the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism and the Regulations on the procedure for forming and executing the budget of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (Tashkent, June 1, 2022)” was deliberated by the participants.
One of the main focuses of the Eurasian Group’s work is identified as fighting against the financing of weapons of mass destruction. The budget of the Eurasian Group is also clarified, including member states’ contributions, expense distribution, and other financial matters.
The senators emphasized that ratifying this law would strengthen international cooperation in combating terrorism financing.
Additionally, the Committee discussed a report from the Director of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights on the country’s compliance with international human rights obligations.
The report from the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) for 2023 was also presented.
After the meeting, the Committee made relevant decisions.
