The Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, in partnership with TURKSOY and Hacı Bayram Veli University in Ankara, organized an event to present the book “A Sky Full of Stars” by Gafur Gulam, the People’s Poet of Uzbekistan, on the occasion of his 120th birth anniversary.

The opening remarks were given by the Uzbekistan Ambassador to Turkey, Alisher Agzamkhojayev, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Advisor to the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Shavkat Artikov, and Vice-Rector of Hacı Bayram Veli University Professor Metin Orbay.

Ambassador Alisher Agzamkhojayev expressed special thanks to the scientists and literary scholars who contributed to the event and assisted in translating “A Sky Full of Stars” into Turkish.

The event included speeches from scientists and writers from Turkic-speaking countries, as well as Gafur Gulam’s daughter, Olmos Akhmedova, who shared her childhood memories and insights into her father’s work. It is worth mentioning that last year, the 120th anniversary of Gafur Gulam was widely celebrated on the initiative of the President.

A short film about Gafur Gulam’s life and work was also screened during the conference, and participants were given copies of “A Sky Full of Stars.”
