On February 28, the International Institute for Central Asia and the Embassy of China in Uzbekistan will be organizing an International Conference titled “Uzbekistan and China: Strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation for the well-being of both nations”.
The forum will be supported by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the China Institute of International Studies, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Chinese Enterprises in Uzbekistan.
The conference will be attended by prominent think tanks from both countries, representatives from various ministries and agencies, and leaders of Chinese companies operating in Uzbekistan.
The main focus of the conference will be to discuss the outcomes of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to China from January 23-25 this year and his meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Joint Statement signed by the two heads of state has declared the establishment of a “comprehensive strategic partnership in a new era”. During the visit, 15 agreements were signed between the two governments, agencies, and regions. Decisions were made to increase project financing by Chinese banks, establish a representative office of the Export-Import Bank in Uzbekistan, and establish a new investment platform with the Silk Road Fund. Agreements were also made to expand infrastructure development and industrial cooperation programs.
At the conference, there will be discussions on strengthening strategic partnerships and further enhancing cooperation in various sectors and regions.
The speeches by representatives of the business community in Uzbekistan and leading Chinese companies in the country will focus on the social impact of ongoing projects.
The participants of the conference will put forward proposals to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in key areas and increase its positive impact on the socio-economic development of both countries.
