Telephone Conversation between Leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan

On December 5, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan had a detailed discussion over the phone about strengthening the strategic partnership between their countries and expanding cooperation in various areas. The National Leader of the Turkmen people also conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan to President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.

The two leaders focused on implementing previous agreements and preparing for upcoming high-level meetings. They expressed satisfaction with the increased mutual contacts and exchanges, including the successful Forum of Regions, Industrial Exhibition, and Uzbek Culture Days in Turkmenistan. They also noted the presentation of a collection of works in the Uzbek language and the screening of a joint feature film in Ashgabat.

The trade turnover between the two countries has already exceeded $1 billion this year, and transportation through the Turkmenbashi port is also increasing. The construction of the “Shavat – Dashoguz” border zone is currently underway, and cooperation in industries such as agriculture, transport, and others is strengthening.

The leaders also discussed future prospects for cooperation in energy and water management, as well as exchanged views on the current international and regional situation. President Mirziyoyev congratulated Leader Berdimuhamedov on the upcoming holiday of the Day of Neutrality in Turkmenistan and wished prosperity and well-being to the fraternal Turkmen people.
