The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change organized an event to mark the start of the Third International Sculpture Symposium “Tashkent 2024”.

The opening ceremony was attended by Aziz Abduhakimov, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Akmal Nur, Chairman of the Academy of Arts, Ibrohim Valikhujayev, Chairman of the Association of Artists of Uzbekistan, representatives from foreign embassies in Uzbekistan, and educational institutions under the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

In his speech, Aziz Abduhakimov stated that environmental issues are a global threat to humanity and that almost every region or country on the planet is facing pollution and climate change. The symposium aims to raise awareness about these problems.

The symposium will host 20 foreign and 6 local sculptors who will create stone sculptures on the theme of “Sculpture and the Environment”. There will also be masterclasses and practical classes for young sculptors, showcasing the tradition of “master-apprentice”.

In addition, the symposium participants will have the opportunity to visit museums and cultural heritage sites in Tashkent, Bukhara, and Tashkent regions.

The sculptures created during the symposium, which will have a strong ideological message and meet aesthetic standards, will be installed in parks, recreational areas, tourist destinations, and the Green University to enhance the cultural and artistic atmosphere of Tashkent.
