Tashkent to host an International Theater Festival

This autumn, Tashkent will once again be the host city for an International Theater Festival. The festival will feature a combination of renowned touring productions and dynamic performances. The opening of the festival on October 4th will showcase the play “Einstein and Margarita”, directed by Alexander Marin, at the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater. The play, starring Ksenia Rappoport and Alexei Serebryakov, tells a story of love and the creation of the atomic bomb. On October 7th, the Alisher Navoi State Academic Grand Theater will present the performance concert “Say That You Love Me”, directed by Sergey Sotnikov and featuring Darya Moroz, Evgeniy Tsyganov, and composer/conductor Peter Dranga. The festival will also include a performance on October 9th by the Academic Russian Drama Theatre, “Son”, directed by Yuri Butusov and based on a play by Florian Zeller. The Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation has announced that the festival program will also feature performances by Tashkent theaters such as “The Five Wives of Effendi”, “Listen to the Poet” (based on stories by Abdulla Qodiri), and “Tricks of Maysara” (based on a play by Hamza).
