At the World Bank’s event in Marrakesh, Morocco, South Korea’s finance minister Choo Kyung-ho declared that the country would join the Resilient and Inclusive Supply-chain Enhancement Partnership (RISE) program. This program is designed to help developing countries access clean energy and benefit from the global supply chain. The nations involved in the initiative, including Japan, Canada, and Britain, have pledged a total of over $40 million, with South Korea contributing $3 million.

The finance minister also attended the Ukraine Roundtable, where South Korea promised to provide $50 million to the World Bank’s fund for Ukraine. He stressed the importance of not only providing financial aid, but also sharing knowledge and technology to help with nation-building efforts. Choo concluded his visit to Morocco on Friday, after attending the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
