Sherzod Shermatov participates in the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation in Astana

The Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, attended the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation, which was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Astana. During the conference, regional cooperation plans for accelerating digital innovation and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals were discussed. Heads of government and ministers from the Asia-Pacific region also talked about promoting sustainable development, digital inclusion, and transformation in the region. The main focus of the conference was on bridging the digital divide, providing digital skills training, ensuring digital security, and promoting digital cooperation. At the panel session “Policy prospects for building an inclusive and sustainable digital future for accelerated achievement of Sustainable Development Goals”, Minister Shermatov presented Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts and initiatives to ensure the country’s digital future and sustainable development. He highlighted the role of digital technologies in promoting social integration and environmental sustainability, and also mentioned the Public Services Portal as a tool for increasing efficiency and transparency in public services. The Minister also discussed measures being taken to develop inclusivity in providing digital public services, such as tax incentives for IT companies and efforts to create a technological ecosystem that employs young people and women.
