The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva held a meeting with Gilbert Houngbo, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, who is currently in Uzbekistan for a working visit. During the meeting, Gilbert Houngbo praised the ILO’s practical collaboration with Uzbekistan and congratulated the country on its election as a member of the Administrative Council. He also highlighted the significant progress made by Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The meeting also focused on the successful results achieved by Uzbekistan through the Decent Work Country Programme for 2021-2025, which serves as a model for other countries. Discussions were also held on the development of a new Decent Work Programme for 2026-2030, in line with the objectives set at the 112th session of the ILO and the priority areas of the Sustainable Development Goals. As a result of the meeting, both parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in reducing gender inequality, fighting discrimination in the labor force, promoting employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, and creating a fair and decent working environment for them.
