On Thursday, Samsung SDI Co. reported a third-quarter net income of 622.4 billion won (US$459.3 million), a 2.5 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year. Operating profit for the July-September period was 496 billion won, a 12.3 percent reduction from the year before, the company revealed in a regulatory filing. Revenue, however, grew 10.8 percent to 5.94 trillion won.
The operating profit was slightly higher than the average forecast, as per a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, a financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency. Unfortunately, there was no estimate of net profit available.
