The Domestic Tourism Fair was held at Registan Square in Samarkand with the goal of promoting domestic tourism and promoting collaboration among various organizations in the industry. The event was attended by tour operators, travel agents, and representatives from hotels, hostels, and guesthouses, all gathered under the theme of “Visit Uzbekistan!”
According to Rustam Kobilov, Deputy Hokim of Samarkand region, the aim is to increase the number of foreign tourists to 5 million and domestic tourists to 7 million this year. The traditional concept of a tourist season is becoming less relevant as tourists now visit throughout the year. With its abundant tourism potential, Samarkand has the opportunity to significantly contribute to the economy through effective utilization of available resources.
The fair served as a platform for discussions on increasing tourist flow, improving service quality, and fostering cooperation. The event also featured an exhibition of Samarkand handicrafts, a showcase of national costumes, and a performance by the “Chavki” folklore and ethnographic group. Outstanding participants were recognized and awarded during the event.
